In the last few months, I’ve bought more games than I can finish in a year. Okay, technically, that’s not correct. Most games these days can be finished in under a month. But that means you have to be dedicated to playing it through.
However, me being the lazy gamer, I don’t think I’m going to finish any of the games that I’ve purchased. In case, the only games I can think of that I’ve finished in recent times are Far Cry 3 and GTA V. I’m confident that I’ll finish Far Cry 4 too. But none of the other games that I’ve been purchasing for the last few months.
Let’s try to remember the games that I’ve bought recently.
I purchased Fallout 4 and made a pretty big deal out of it since I’d gotten the disc before the game’s official release. I loved the opening of the game. I loved the gameplay. I loved the graphics despite many people hating it. But the only thing I hated is how hard it is to progress through the game. You have to be super careful not to waste your resources (and to build them as well). I’m lazy in real life. Why did I think I’d be an active person in a video game?
Shortly after buying Fallout 4, I also purchased Star Wars Battlefront. I don’t regret buying this game because it’s a fun game to play. It’s not as hard as Destiny The Taken King, another game I purchased recently that I’ll likely not be able to finish. Besides, Battlefront has a fun splitscreen mode so I can play with another friend at the same time.
I played Battlefront in splitscreen and it was fun. For that alone, the game was worth getting.
I also bought Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 just because, contrary to most people, I liked all the COD games’ single-player missions. Despite the fact that Activision drops the same title every year, their campaign mode has always been a good one for lazy gamers like me.
I’ve actually played a lot into the game and I might actually finish the campaign mode of Black Ops 3. But seeing my progress rate, I’m pretty sure that won’t be until at least February.
FIFA 16 is the first sports game I’ve ever purchased. Sure, back in the day, I bought discs of video games for my PC. But I never purchased a sports game. I downloaded most of the early cricket games off the web. I haven’t played any FIFA game. In fact, the only time I’ve played a football game was back when I had a SEGA.
I’m not a great player at all, as you can imagine. But I’m loving this game so far. It’s a great way to spend some time, even if that means I’m the one not scoring the goals. The soundtracks are awesome. So much that I wrote two posts already. I find it extremely difficult. But it’s also fun. It’s a rare combination that I find in video games. That’s just me, though. I’m typically annoyed by difficulty in games. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I purchased Wolfenstein The Old Blood and The New Order at a discounted price from the PlayStation Store. Both of those games were priced below $10 and I’ve heard so many good things about them that I couldn’t resist myself from getting them. I haven’t been able to play them yet simply because I haven’t been able to download them. I have to upgrade my PS4’s hard disk before I can install any more games on it.
Although I’m sure that I’ll enjoy both of those titles, I’m not very confident that I’ll finish them. Let’s see!
I also bought LittleBigPlanet 3 at a discounted price. I’m not usually into this sort of games, but I liked the trailer and purchased it. I loved the first hour or so into the game. And then I forgot about it. I don’t regret buying it if that’s what you’re asking. It’s one of those games that I’d let sit around so that I can play if I need something fun and light to play.
Another game I can relate to the description above is called Zombie Vikings. I came to know about it when it was up for voting for a PlayStation Plus offering. Grow Home is the game that won the round, but I liked and was hoping that Zombie Vikings would be the one that gets offered for free.
I purchased the game later and it is insanely fun! I’d recommend this game to anybody in a heartbeat. The game isn’t too difficult nor too boring. The dialogues are hilarious. And if you play with a friend — up to 4 people can play together — the games suddenly becomes funnier than you can hope. Do check out the game even if you’re on a PC. It’s available on Steam.
Far Cry 4 is a game that I shouldn’t even be talking about. If you’ve been following my blog long enough, you know that I’m playing and loving every bit of this game (and writing about it every step of the way while I’m at it). I actually purchased the physical disc from Best Buy back in October when I was in the US. I probably paid more than I would have if I’d bought the game used here in Dhaka, but I don’t regret. The game is worth every cent I paid for it.
I recently purchased Tower of Guns because it was on sale and the trailer and gameplay videos looked really cool. I haven’t played long enough to express my feelings about it, but from the brief moments I’ve spent playing it, I can say that I like the slow pace of the game. I do hope that it won’t get boring anytime soon, it didn’t look like it would, but even if it does get boring, I won’t regret. I didn’t pay a fortune for it.
There are a number of other games that I purchased recently that I can’t remember right away. But I’ve decided to put a temporary stop to purchasing any more games. I should finish the ones I’ve already purchased before moving on to something new.
The only two games that I can see myself buying in the near future are Just Cause 3 (because why not) and Far Cry Primal. I’m hoping that I’ll finish Far Cry 4 by the time Far Cry Primal lands. I’ve been seeing its gameplay videos and while the lack of a modern weapon makes me sad, I can’t wait to play and explore.
So, basically, I shall stop buying games for now, right after I buy the next one!
Have you been buying too many games recently? 😉
