It’s been a while since I got a free game as part of my PlayStation Plus subscription. There are games every month that can be downloaded for free. While not all of those games are worth the trouble, many people say at least two or three of the titles offered as part of the free PS Plus games are good enough.
So today, I noticed some chatters on various internet channels that Helldivers — a game I’ve never heard of before — was free on PlayStation 4, and it was a good game to be played online or with friends on the couch. The couch co-op part has what attracted me to it in the first place. I love being able to play multiplayer in couch co-op. So I looked up Helldivers’ gameplay video on YouTube and this is what I came up with.
I’m not a big fan of isometric views, but I won’t deny the truth that some games can be immensely fun in isometric view. What looks very different about this game is the fact that this is a shooter — as opposed to hacker/slasher (DOTA or Diablo-type) — where you can actually shoot guns at the enemy. I know this is not the first game of this kind, but it does look interesting.
I’ll admit that I wouldn’t have paid for this game. Since it’s a free download — meaning it won’t cost anything extra to give this game a go — I’m going to go ahead and try it. Of course, thanks to my super fast (!) internet speed, it’ll take a while until I can actually load up the game.
Until then, let me know if you’ve played Helldivers and what your thoughts are about it if you did.
